My therapist calculated my BMI in front of me, should I get a new therapist?

oh no

Sooo I hate my body and I decided to get a therapist to help me because I’ve been doing really bad lately and I thought it would help me in my recovery. I explained to her how I feel “too big” and how I weigh myself everyday obsessively.

She said “well let’s look at a chart and find your recommended weight for your height” you know those inaccurate charts that say what weight you should be for your height? She pulled that up. And then after that she calculated my BMI in front of me. She said “Yea a healthy range is from >!18-24!< and you’re >!24!< so youre fine. you are on the higher end, but that’s okay, why are you sad?”

I was just kind of flabbergasted. I avoided calculating my BMI because I KNEW it would be big. I KNEW I was on the higher end, I just didn’t want the confirmation and her saying I’m on the higher end did something to me idk why it hurt so bad.

do I give her another chance or do I find a new therapist?
