Abnormal pelvic exam

Hi, everyone. Back in October I got an exam done because I had odd purple-ish discharge and some pelvic pain. They told me they would contact me if something was wrong. I was never contacted until this week- nearly 6 months later, saying they missed some abnormalities on my exam and want me to come back for a colposcopy next week. I guess I am just very nervous something is wrong and that if it is cervical cancer, it could have spread by now since it’s been so long. Has anyone else had an “abnormal” pap that came back okay? I am having a ton of anxiety over it.
