Where to store hay

So I was trying to get TMR for cows and I got a forage wagon. The silage is in the pit. Straw is in bales (because I used to bale it) and I thought it would be a good idea to get a pit for hay. Seems Hay becomes chaff when it is in a pit.

Where do you store hay? I don't really like the look of the hay loft.
