Brainstorming Game Mechanics for Goði Sagas: Ísland - Your Input Welcome!

I wanted to open up a discussion about potential game mechanics for Goði Sagas: Ísland. Remember, this is early development, so even rough ideas are welcome!

I'm currently considering mechanics for:

  • Raiding: How should raiding work? Focus on resource acquisition, prisoner taking, or something else? What kind of strategic choices should players make before and during a raid?
  • Character Development: What kind of skills, traits, or background should your Goði and other characters have? How should they develop over time?
  • Diplomacy and Alliances: How can players form meaningful relationships with other Goðar? What kind of benefits and risks should alliances bring?
  • Conflict Resolution: Beyond raiding, how should disputes be resolved? Through negotiation, legal proceedings at the Althing, or other means?

What kind of turn-based strategy and RPG mechanics do you find most engaging? Are there any games you've played that have particularly inspired you in these areas?

Your feedback at this stage is incredibly valuable and will help shape the direction of the game. Let's discuss!

Hilsen!
