1 wk post diagnosis
Call this a rant regarding my recent diagnosis but I need some reassurance, advice, or just words of encouragement -
I received a diagnosis last week of inattentive ADHD. I'm in my early 20s and so bogged down by this. Everyone around me that weren't me or my parents apparently could tell (until I got older and out of the house), or I get hit with the "everyone has a bit of ADHD in them though, right?". I still feel invalid and like an imposter, even though there have been so many signs and there is a MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS of this now.
I've lived like this for 20+ years, and I'm angry. Meds are not possible right now because I have too much responsibility and don't want to fuck up my brain more while in a time of change/stress. But this leaves me still rawdogging life for a couple more months. Active daily living stuff has been hard my whole life. Everything and nothing makes sense right now, and I mourn my younger self and what could have been. I feel lost in the world right now.
