Going to France for 4-6 weeks. Can I work remotely for US employer without a visa?

My partner has a work trip in France later this year, and I'm accompanying them for most of the trip. I'm really just going for moral support and a bit of sightseeing, but my employer is letting do remote work on the trip as long as everything is above board.

What, if any, visa will I need to make this legal? I'm getting conflicting info online, and I couldn't get a straight answer from the consulates/visa hotlines I called.
