Randomly disconnecting from matches?

TECH SUPPORT

As the title says, I have been randomly disconnecting from OG, Battle Royale, and many other gamemode matches. It started around the update that introduced OG Chapter 3, though I’m not sure when exactly it happened, before or after. There is usually no indication of a problem beforehand. At some point during the game, (it can happen anytime between the start of the match before the bus and the middle or near the end of the game.), I will disconnect. It doesn’t outright kick me to the lobby, I will start off unable to move or switch weapons, sometimes other players will start to freeze in place one at a time, I’ll see the poor network indicator (the WiFi symbol with the yellow x), and from there the game will never reconnect. This happens at random and there is no packet loss or drop in ping beforehand. If I quit to lobby on my own, it will say that there was a problem with the servers and to check the epic games status (there is never a problem). If I wait in the unresponsive lobby long enough, it will quit on its own after about five minutes and say the connection is lost. There is no problems with navigating the lobby, there is no issues with any other game or application. I can still freely talk on discord with friends while it happens, there is no sign of any problem with my WiFi.

Things I have tried, courtesy of epic games support:

  • Reinstalling the epic games launcher
  • verifying the games files
  • changing the rendering settings
  • changing the server region
  • reinstalling the game
  • restarting the router
  • deleting temporary files
  • closing every other app to optimize connection
  • flushing my DNS (seemed to make it worse, it happened way quicker and more often)

I have yet to contact the ISP because there is no indication of an internet problem with any other game nor the discord call. Another option was Port Forwarding, but the security risks had me concerned. Feeling lost and frustrated since Epic Games couldn’t even diagnose the problem.
