Credit cards and Omnis
This can be a controversial topic for some but I consider Credit Cards a hobby of mine (as do many others on r/creditcards). It’s interesting and fun to strategize different “stacks” for optimized cash back. People who are “in the hobby” always pay their entire balance before the end of the month so that they never pay interest.
I use quite a few different cards for different types of purchases and have never once paid interest because I treat my credit limit like a checking account. As a result I get 3-5% minimum cash back on every purchase (groceries dining, utilities etc) including comic books.
For example on instocktrades I use PayPal to check-out and use the PayPal Mastercard which gives me 3% cash back on top of the 2% loyalty discount for a total of 5% discount.
At local comic shops or book stores I use the Kroger Mastercard which gives 5% on everything Apple Pay.
Right now I’m “churning” a “SUB” (sign up bonus) which gives me $200 cash back after spending $1500 in 6 months for an effective 13% cash back so I’ll be using this card for all my regular spending until I get the SUB and then treat myself to an Omni or two.
I thought it would be fun to post this as a suggestion to make my other hobby (comics) a bit more affordable.
Be warned this hobby isn’t for everyone so I would not recommend “churning” unless you have high credit scores already and are financially responsible to begin with. Even a flat 2% credit card could be useful for someone who doesn’t like juggling more than one.
