trying to look for a new job
hello paint crew!
i have been with the company for about 4 and a half years now. i was a part-time key up until january when i became the full-time key.
there are a number of reasons why i want to search elsewhere. it took me over a year of begging, and eventually threats of looking elsewhere, for a full-time position from part-time. even as a part-time employee, i was working 10 day stretches VERY OFTEN and the $600 i would get in return would feel like a slap in the face for the amount of work i just put out. i worked 2 weeks straight around christmas time (still part-time) to cover everyones paid time off but my own. my district does not feel the need to give us another body, despite the fact the part-timer only works every other weekend (4 days a month) and my store manager is honestly never in the store at this point. its a skeleton crew of just my assistant manager and i and we are getting so burnt out and angry. the store right down the street (non-commercial) ive seen have 6 employees at once AND interns..... on top of this, an MTP who just finished her program and has been with the company for only 3 months, is making MUCH MORE than my assistant manager who has been working as an ASM for 4 years now who also went thru the same program. store manager also has the habit of now micromanaging us, even when hes on vacation in a country across the planet from us. he, most times, doesn't even say hello to me anymore when i clock in, its straight to what i did wrong. "the emerald exterior was put with the interior, please be more careful." (i dont even put the cases away...... HE does. he gets worried since im shorter and skinny.) "this one single tag was not printed out, i asked this to be done over the weekend," sorry? i was crushing 3-5 grand days over the weekend and didnt really have the time?.. he also comes in on his days off, starts demanding things when he can clearly sees i dont have the time or means to get those things done, and then leaves early everyday to "claim his hours back...." so by 12/1pm on a tuesday hes already going home. getting real tired of 10+ days, no actual lunch breaks, no help + judgement from district, and just the blatant disrespect of the company towards its loyal employees. i used to really like this job, but it unfortunately feels like the vibe has shifted since i set sail here.
following that, to anyone who has moved on from sherwin, where did you find yourself? im very good with computers, as i have a build of my own, and im a decently sociable person, however i do feel i need a break from the customer service aspect but wouldnt mind working in team settings. i like to be on my feet and enjoy doing more labor-inducing jobs. im not sure where exactly my skills lie outside of paint knowledge at this point, but any input would be appreciated.
thank you in advance. -a fed up pain(t) employee
