Thinking about upgrading and not sure about parts.

I haven't made an upgrade on my pc in awhile and I think i'd like to catch it up a bit to modern standards. I'd only want to take it a step or 2 up. I'm not playing a lot of AAA high req stuff but occasionally i'll want to play something newer and i'll find slight hiccups during. There's a lot about parts that I don't know, such as what parts are worth the money vs other parts. Looking to upgrade the Processor and the Graphics Card.

CPU: i7-7700k 4.2ghz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660
I'd appreciate any suggestions on whether you think it's worth updating and what parts you would recommend. Thanks in advance!
