Cute towns with New England vibes to bring my visiting friend?

Hey all, since moving here recently, I've done a lot less exploring than I'd like. I've got a friend visiting who's never been to the area. Where can I bring her as a little day trip (can be close or less close by car) that will feel like a cute/quaint town? TIA!
