We just keep doing the stuff fiction warns us not to!
I mean, this is nothing new, we have AI messing stuff up now, and disrespecting studio Ghibli.
But i guess it's hitting me more recently with the whole "Dire Wolves" thing.
They are not actual Dire Wolves, but they are sure marketed as such and as an actual de extinction.
And of course this is being marketed to promote further investagation to bring back other species like the Woolly Mamoth. But, while i do see the point in fixing recent extinctions that we are responsible for, like the Thylacine, what's the point of bringing back Dire Wolves? What Niche would they even occupy that regular wolves wouldn't actually be taking care off?
Did you just do it just to have a GoT cool looking wolf?
Sure, they are cool, but, like, this is literally the kind of stuff the Jurassic Park novel criticizes! And those resources could be used to prevent current extinctions from current species actually occupying a niche.
Art imitates life but reality sure likes to take things from fiction. It's craaaazy.
