My big toenail ripped off

4 days ago my big toenail ripped off as my husband was cutting a huge piece of cardboard as he was standing on it and his foot slipped and launched the cardboard and somehow it got under my nail and sliced it off in a split second. Was a crazy freak accident

It did bleed profusely and I tried to clean it the best I can as it was extremely painful.

for the past 4 days I’ve had it uncovered since anything touching the nail bed is extremely painful.

I’m just wondering if it’s turning into an infection because now it’s oozing this weird liquid & what I can do to prevent one?

Any advice would be helpful!
