Highly Resourceful, Strong Communicator — Health Science New Grad Interested in Med Device Sales (No Sales Experience)
Hi everyone,
I’m graduating college early with a degree in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise (basically health science), and I’m starting to think seriously about medical device sales.
I don’t have formal sales experience, but I’m resourceful, detail-oriented, and naturally good with people. I’ve had some clinical exposure, done a lot of caregiving, and I’m currently setting up shadowing opportunities to learn more. I also have strong customer service experience with excellent recommendations — clear communication, relationship-building, and adaptability are definitely strengths of mine.
I’ve also been considering nursing school. I know nurses often make great candidates for medical sales, and I could honestly see myself enjoying nursing. I’m just unsure whether the time and financial investment is worth it, especially if I ultimately want to move into sales.
A few things I’m wondering:
- How realistic is it to break in with no sales background?
- Has anyone here done Medical Sales College — is it worth it?
- Is it better to get clinical experience first (like nursing) and pivot later?
- What made you stand out early on?
Would love to hear from people who’ve been there. I really appreciate any honest advice or perspective — thank you!
