The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel reread so far thoughts
!Currently 4 and a hours left in the Warlock audiobook in my reread of the series since the series finished, and I love the series, characters, history, and magic system. But just one issue. Yes, the Flamels have done some sketchy things, but Josh still hearing Doctor Dee out at this late point? He's stuck on Alcatraz with them, but come on! Doctor Dee caused the Great Fire of London, a famine in Ireland, and the Great San Francisco earthquake, and yet people would still victim blame the Flamels? Death and destruction follow the Flamels. And now Dee wants to unleash the monsters on Alcatraz, formerly at the behest of the Dark Elders, and now for his own purposes? The Dark Elders would be seen as the saviors of Humanity, and could give humanity great gifts. But that doesn't mean that they will. Josh never asks this question. The Elders want to slaughter millions currently, and that's not a red flag to Josh? Whose to say they won't kill more later on? Also I hope Josh learns that Dee set Coatlicue on him, but from what I remember there was a heartfelt moment between Dee and Josh in the last book, so I'm not holding my breath. Scathach says not to trust anyone, but isn't that a logical fallacy? Josh and Sophie are young and not as experienced compared to the Flamels, Dee, etc, and maybe I'm jaded, but while lying, stealing, etc is bad, you aren't going to live to your 600's being a saint. At least Josh and Sophie can protect themselves now. Better than the innocents harmed in San Francisco, London and Paris. A bit of a ramble, but just had to vent. !<
