Weight loss advice should never be censored to protect people
Weight loss advice should not be censored to protect the people who struggle with eating issues
Ok ok I sound like a monster for the title but this is a opinion that has always stuck to me for a long time cause I was born obese like at my heaviest I was 115 killograms and it ruined my life, I had a serious health scare last year where my kidneys were in such serious agonizing pain, I almost accidentally overdosed cause the relief from pain killers couldn't help them making me take a lot, plus breathing issues so bad, I would cry myslef to sleep cause it was so horrible to try to breathe, I was crying
I noticed a issue is when I try to find diet advice a lost of activist dieticians and people spreading useless advice and misinformation that harms people who are obese or have health issues
I was trying to look for low calorie diets cause my situation became so dire for me, I needed to lose weight cause suprise suprise physical health hurts your mental health
I believed in "starvation mode" a lie meant to scare anorexic people to not restrict making me terrified of calorie deficits and guess what? So far I started that journey and went from 115 to 97 kilograms
Not only that but body positivity like "oh you should be happy no matter your size and honour your cravings " well I followed that advice and now I'm fighting actual complications with my health that could be irreversible
And when I read actual government articles you know what I see? "To prevent binge eating, eat what you crave" I speak for millions when I say it's never just one Oreo, if I crave Oreos I crave binging them you don't tell a crack addict to "listen to his body" cause our bodies have been hijacked by hyper palatable foods in bodies that have lived through famines and goals to survive
Plus, when actual influencers who could help people like the ones who actually help (I won't make them just in case) I had to find about them from channels from hundreds of subs and it's good advice I needed to hear like "fat is never healthy or looks good on anyone" "you can't gain weight on 1,200 calories" this advice got me where I am
Though I get the sensitivity there needs to be protect teen girls with eating disorders but protect people who are addicted their health is risked
