Succession - Question
Hello,
I need legal advice regarding this situation.
My grandmother passed away a few months ago, and since my mother is also deceased and my grandmother didn't have a will, I am the beneficiary of the portion of the inheritance that would go to my mother. My uncle is the executor of the will, and my mother had three other siblings who also inherit.
Since the beginning, it’s obvious that they are not happy that I’m receiving part of the inheritance : I’m not being given any information and I haven’t been involved at all. My uncle also told me I should give part of it to his wife who took care of my grandmother while she was sick.
I recently learned that my uncle has the cheque that is owed to me. Since I live outside the region (12 hours away) and it is impossible for me to travel right now, I asked him to give it to my father, who will be coming to see me soon, but he refuses, saying he only wants to give it to me in person (I know it’s to bully me into giving some of the money to him). What are my options? He also refused to send it to me via registered mail.
Can he do that?
Thanks a lot.
