I want opinion on what to do
I’m currently on a subclass 482 (Temporary Skill Shortage) Short-Term visa, which is valid until January 2026. My nominated occupation is Organisation and Methods Analyst (ANZSCO 224712).
I started working in this role in November 2022 with my previous employer and stayed until February 2024. In March 2025, I began working with my current employer, who is planning to take over my sponsorship this month.
By December 2025, I will have accumulated three years of relevant work experience in my occupation. This means I’ll meet the work experience requirement for the 186 Direct Entry (DE) permanent residency visa, provided I also get a positive skills assessment from VETASSESS, meet the English language criteria, and my employer lodges a valid nomination.
Since my 482 visa expires in January 2026, and I’ll be eligible for the 186 DE by December 2025, I believe it would be better to apply for permanent residency through the 186 DE stream rather than extend my 482.
I’m missing some payslips from my previous job, but I plan to support my work history using ATO tax records, bank statements, contracts, etc.
Anyone that had gone through something similar? I quit my previous sponsor due toxic work environment.
