Things going on this weekend (Second Weekend of April)

It's Big Shanty Festival y'all

This Saturday and Sunday is the Big Shanty Festival. They'll have 250 booths, 25 food vendors, world champion Frisbee dog shows, a puppet act that involves a catapult, a constant rotation of live music on one stage and school groups on the other. It's the largest such event in Georgia (wallow in the mud of second place Swine Time). Attending is free, the food is not. Y'all should go, I'll be there.

Do be aware that Main Street will be closed to traffic from Friday evening to Sunday evening.

Other (lesser) events include are also happening (I suppose).

On Friday (April 11th) at the Marietta square they're showing The Wild Robot. Event starts at 8PM, movie starts when it's dark enough. Admission is free, bring your own blanket and chair.

The Cobb County Bomb Squad presents: The Beeping Easter Egg Hunt. It's an easter egg hunt for the visually impaired. It's on Saturday (April 12th). Registration is required to participate, but it seems that all the slots have been filled already. It's good to know it's an option for future years anyways. It'll be hosted at Horizon Field in the Acworth Sport Complex from 9 AM to 11 AM. In inclement weather it'll be hosted at the Acworth Community Center instead.

At the same time there's a Community Recycling Day at Jim R Miller Park in Marietta. Again, that's Saturday (April 12th) from 9 AM to 1 PM. They have an extensive list of what they can and cannot accept including where/when to take what they cannot accept. So, if you need to get rid of stuff this Keep Cobb Beautiful event is worth the trip.

Finally, on this upcoming Tuesday (April 15th) at the Cobb County Civic Center they will be hosting at County-Wide Job Fair. The event will run from 11AM to 2PM. More information here.
