Importing Dreamcast saves

I'm trying to import a DCI save file from:
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps2/561477-marvel-vs-capcom-2/saves#dreamcast-vms-file-download-directly-to-dc-north-america
that unlocks all characters in Marvel vs Capcom 2. I tried using VMU explorer and overwriting the vmu save with the downloaded file but it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure where the save files are located for the flycast standalone emulator but I'm assuming it's in mnt/SDCARD/Emu/DC/.local/share/flycast but it doesn't seem to work.
