Missing rocks?

Do rocks spawn some place new if you haven’t hit them in awhile? I’ve looked everywhere but can’t seem to find three of my island rocks and it’s been days now. I’m also thinking maybe I just don’t have enough space for them to spawn? Is that possible? Thanks!
