Bronchitis?
Two weeks ago I (23f, NW OH) had what I assume was a sinus infection (head and sinus pressure, drainage, congestion, the works) as i get them at least twice a year. However, i believe it had turned into bronchitis (chest pain, difficulty breathing, fevers from 99-101.2, coughing [sometimes productive, sometimes not], fatigue, “neon” yellow or green mucus whenever i blew my nose, etc)(I’ve had bronchitis a few times in the past few years, and it feels very similar if not the same). I “self diagnosed” and was taking mucinex, and then switched to robitussin. It helped LOADS with the chest pain and lessened the unproductive coughing and sinus issues. However, like I said, it’s been 2 weeks and it’s still not gone. I haven’t had a noticeable fever in about a week, but when i blow my nose it’s a bright neon yellow, like a highlighter and i still have a pretty nasty cough. I am afraid of getting on antibiotics because of what happened last time (had pneumonia a while ago and they loaded me up with antibiotics, NOT a good time even with probiotics). Is this something I should go to the doctor for, or is this just residual mucus? I don’t want to waste hundreds on a trip to the doctor for them to either make me take antibiotics or tell me I’m “fine”. Should I continue taking robitussin/mucinex/etc?
First time posting! Please be kind 😅
TL;DR: still coughing up and producing “neon” mucus with shortness of breath after a sinus infection and potential bronchitis 2 weeks ago
