How do you prevent vaginal infections while using vaginal progesterone?

I’m someone who is more prone to vaginal infections. I’ve had bacterial infections and green discharge in the past, and I was treated for it. Because of that, I switched to using progesterone suppositories rectally instead of vaginally. But after a week of using them rectally, I started noticing continuous brown discharge, which made me anxious. So I went back to using them vaginally, thinking the discharge might be from the rectal use. My doctor also recommends using it vaginally, saying it’s more effective.

I’d really appreciate any advice or tips you have on how to manage this.
