Advice for living with a close minded dad

I got my phone taken because I yelled at my dad don't hit my dogs. I (15f) was walking in the hallway while my dog was jumping on me because I had food and my mom saw and started panicking because she knew if my dad saw he would get up and hit her. My dad heard her panicking and yelled what was going on and I was already in a bad mood. Mind you I rarely raise my voice at my dad when I did raise my voice I said "My mom is panicking because she doesn't want you to hit the dogs." he yelled "I can hit them If want." and I yelled back "Well i'm not the one saying you can't, even professional trainers say not to hit the dogs." and its not like he hits them like a pat on a back these are big dogs, a doberman and a boxer. He hits them hard enough to where they yelp. After I yelled that out my dad went silent, got up and went to my room and got my phone and threw it in his desk. Its so frustrating dealing with him he doesn't care about anyones opinions but his own, he believes everything should be done in his way and if you do something against his ways, you're an idiot. Every time something little happens he starts screaming and complains how he's the only one with a brain in this house and everyone is irrelevant. I am already depressed and tired out dealing with this cycle every day talking to my friends and playing games on my phone is the only thing that makes my day, and he takes that from me. Any advice to get my phone back and dealing with a person like this?
