Windows 11 Audio Glitching / Cracking / Distortion

I build a new pc and decided it's time to switch to Windows 11. I can't for the live of me figure out how to fix a small audio glitch. I've read dozens of reddit threads or other forums with tons of ideas and solutions but none of them have worked.

It's not the same type of glitch every time, it can sound a bit different at times. I've tried to record the glitch:

Glitch: If you want to compare the original audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TAPqXkZW_I

This happens multiple times a minute, sometimes just once every few minutes, I can't find a pattern.

The weirdest is: This happens across 3 completely different audio devices

  • Creative SoundBlaster USB DAC --> connected to my Audio Engine speakers
  • My TCL 4k monitor which has a audio out and connects via DP to my Nvidia Graphics Card
  • My Wireless Sennheiser GSP 670 headset, which has a wireless dongle

So I highly doubt it's somehow related to the device drivers of the audio devices. The glitch appears across software, it happens in VLC, Spotify or just YouTube/Twitch in Firefox. The glitch mostly happens when I type, move my mouse or (I assume) network traffic comes in like when watching YouTube.

What I've tried anyway:

  • Changing Default Format in Sound Settings (like CD, DVD, Studio Quality, ...)
  • Disabling/Enabling "Audio Enhancements" and/or "Spatial Sound"
  • Updating Drivers
  • Updating Nvidia Drivers
  • Updating Win 11 to most recent version
  • Disabling various Background Programs like Windhawk, Fan Software, Discord etc.
  • connected my iPhone to the same speakers, no glitching perfect audio (Which was expected since the glitching happens also on my Headset)
  • PCI Link State Power Management or just power management in general
  • Unplugging headset dongle

More Debugging:

I installed FlexASIO and basically copied this config file (I removed channels) https://github.com/dechamps/FlexASIO/blob/master/CONFIGURATION.md#example-configuration-file

Then I started up the audio software Reaper and used FlexASIO with it. I could hear the issues very multiple times in a 20 second demo project. Then I switched on wasapiExclusiveMode = true as it was false before. I confirmed I couldn't start spotify music anymore, when I played the Track in Repaer I had zero audio issues. It just worked. No distortion/pops etc.

I have nothing to do with this information, this is way beyond my skillset. I was told by a friend that somehow exclusive mode "skips a bunch of windows pipeline shit" which I assume is responsible for my Problem.

Specs:

  • Windows 11 Pro 24H2 26100.3902
  • ASRock X870 Pro RS
  • AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • MSI RTX 5090
