School w/ Bp
Hi I was looking for people who relate to struggling with college when dealing with bipolar. I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 at the beginning of my sophomore year. I had been struggling freshman year without medication and was and currently am living on campus.
When I was manic I would be extremely productive and get a lot of exercise. However once I crashed I would be unable to get out of bed, socialize, or do work. Even if I could sit down for work I wouldn’t be able to focus due to constant irrational and impulsive thoughts. I would often walk off campus late at night, not eat for days on end, excessively use substances, and had horrible insomnia.
My grades suffered and during finals week I lost my friends, my SO, and had the school police called on me for suicidal thoughts. At the start of my sophomore year I told myself if I couldn’t make relationships work, I should just focus on school. I started medication a couple months in and had been doing better and made new friends. But I’m approaching finals and was just told my gpa was not high enough to continue with my major (nursing).
I’m now losing hope that I can further my education. I was wondering if anyone can relate. And was looking to see how others have succeeded in college.
