Does a PHEV make sense for a daily ~70 mile round trip commuter?

Am in the market for a new car and looking to spend $20k. I know this relegates me to used market. I currently drive a 2014 Accord and would like to make the move to either a hybrid or a PHEV. Considerations below:

• I commute 5x a week and my round trip is about 70 miles.

• I do have access to a regular 110/120 volt outlet but only at home, so I would be able to charge for the commute to work.

• Cannot charge at work.

• I do drive around town often on weekends.

• Am currently a family of 3, but will soon be 4

• Full electric is not really an option as I am a renter with no access to outlets other than regular ones

Any thoughts? Thank you to anybody at all. Totally lost on whether to go hybrid, PHEV, or even ICE.
