Front license plate missing - early resolution

I had received a ticket for missing front license plate (got it installed the next day) ~12 days ago but I still couldn’t see the details online to request for an early resolution (I was told to choose this option in hope of getting it dropped/reduced since it’s my first infraction). I ended up calling the number on the ticket and rep tells me that the officer gets 8 days to upload the details online and after that the ticket gets void.

My stupid ass wanted to confirm with the court thinking they’d give me the same response. The lady at the inquiry desk asked me to just select the option I wanted to choose and submit the ticket (which I was holding in my hand). Stamped and returned the white copy with today’s date and asked me to wait 6-8 months for further communication via mail.

I feel like a moron that I unnecessarily went to the court to double check about my ticket.

Was I wrong to go to the court verify about my ticket?

What happens if I don’t hear from them in 8 months?
