Am I doing my ICE vehicle a disservice by installing tires recommended for EV/Hydrids?
I have a 2017 Ford Escape SE that needs new summer tires. In my area right now, there’s a sale on Nokian Surpass AS01 tires and they fit my vehicle. My current winter tires are Nokian and I like the brand, I also just like how the tires look if I’m honest. To my understanding, EV/hybrid tires have low rolling resistance, are heavier and have a higher load range because those vehicles are usually heavier and the torque is more than you’d see in an ICE car. I’ve also heard there’s a possibility of improved gas mileage when putting low rolling resistance tires on an ICE car. What are your thoughts? Am I missing some detrimental consequence? My research has only turned up the pros and cons of putting “regular” tires on an EV. I appreciate it!
