Experience in Applying to PayPal Jobs?

The Situation: I recently had an internal referral for a job at PayPal. I was supposed to receive communication related to it but did not. After reaching out to my contact, she suggested I simply just go ahead and apply through their portal....which I did.

The Oops: I realize how much of an oversight this was but I NEVER get spam in my Gmail. Until I noted the email from PayPal / WorkDay in Spam today. It was a hidden folder so I didn't note it right away. Yes , I realize how basic an error this is and yes I have now exposed the folder to see this more often.

The TLDR Question: The email notes that the referral will be invalidated if I apply through any other means. I can't apply twice so my question is:

* HOW much impact does the Internal REferral process have at PayPal in prioritizing your application?

* SHould I Withdraw my application and reapply?

This is a brutal market and i already feel stupid for making this mistake so any first hand knowledge / advice on this would be extremely helpful. We don't get many 'advantages' in this process so I would like to optimize the one I have as much as I can.
