I’m 22, working full-time, in a relationship, and I still feel like I have no life
I dropped out of school in France and moved to Quebec when I was 20. It was a good job in IT. I was lucky to get it. I’ve been here for almost 3 years now.
My girlfriend is 22. She has lots of friends. She lives with roommates. She goes to bars, parties, has fun. She’s still in school.
I only realized recently that outside of her, I have no one. No friends. No one to talk to. No one to hang out with. No one I trust. I live alone in a small town nearby. I don’t have a driver’s license yet, but I’m working on it. I’ve never taken a vacation, except for moving here.
Even if I wanted to do something, there’s not much to do where I live. I feel stuck.
My days are always the same. I wake up. I go to work. I go to the gym. I come home. I cook. I clean. I watch one or two videos. Then I sleep. Then I start again.
Since I became aware of how empty things feel, I had a panic attack. And for weeks now, I’ve had this constant pain in my chest. I try to ignore it. I tell myself this is just how life is. That I just need to hold on and live with it.
But I’m tired. I don’t even know what I’m holding on for.
Have you ever felt like this, and How did you deal with it?
