State tax questions

This year I did a travel job in New York and in California. California is my permanent residence. I got two separate W-2 forms from my agency. All my federal wages are on my California W-2 and no federal wages on my NY w-2 which is correct. However my New York State wages show I earned 100% of my money in NY, and it shows I earned 100% of my money in California on that w-2. It says I owe 300 dollars in New York but I am positive it is because of the incorrect state income. Is this a common situation? Is this an incorrect w-2 form from my employer? Or is this an easy fix when filing my taxes. I also claimed dual taxable income on my CA state return which gave me a credit on CA state return, but I believe it is over taxing me because of incorrect wages on my NY return.
