Rear ended a car and got a following too close ticket. Is this worth hiring a lawyer or would I be able to reduce the penalty myself?
Location: NY
I was attempting to merge into a left lane when the car in front of me suddenly braked causing me to rear end them. Police was called and I was given a "following too close" ticket (1129A). I called a lawyer and they said since the police officer wasn't there to witness the accident their testimony isn't very good. They also quoted me $650 which I'd prefer to not pay.
