How do I 32F help convince my bf’s 33M family for our inter-caste marriage
I F(32) and my bf M(33) have been in a LDR for the past 2 years. He stays in Delhi and Im from Banglore. We met through a dating app while he was here visiting his sister and we have not stopped talking ever since. I made it clear at the beginning itself that I am looking for marriage and I’m pretty serious about it. He had agreed and things were fine initially. We are from different castes he being from LC and me UC. His younger sister had an inter-caste marriage just 1 month before we met. She is now separated and caught in a messy divorce because of caste based discrimination from her ex and her in-laws ( they were together for 5 yrs before marriage). My bf had informed his family about our relationship 1 yr down the line and they seemed ok with it then. It took me more time to convince my family about it, and now they are almost convinced. The issue is now with my bf’s parents, especially his mother, who had to go to court and bear the brunt of his younger sisters divorce. They were discriminated against in courts by people of all ranks and are exhausted from running from pillar to post. They had made a nobel decision to let their daughter marry according to her wish but now are facing backlash from other relatives regarding their decision and are receiving no support from anyone. It’s just my bf and his parents doings all the court work (his sister works in a different state). They are drained financially, physically and emotionally. Given my age my family wants me to get married soon and are pressuring me into it. I know I can’t push my bf because he is also pressed from all fronts of his life including work which is also not great now. In addition to this he also has an elder sister who is yet to get married and the parents are desperately looking for a match for her first. I see my bf being stressed all the time and I can see the impact it’s having on his health. He loves his family a lot and will not go against their wishes. I kinda feel guilty for causing him so much stress but I can’t think of a life without him. I know his parents are not evil people just people punished for being good. I understand their trauma at the same time I want them to see that I’m a different person and that the roles will be reversed here, as in, I’d be the one to move into their house. I am holding myself together with a string of hope. How do we convince his family for this marriage?
