[Unknown] [Unknown] Game where god gives you a mission to do stuff in the dessert

Looking for a game my friend remembers. Apparently the game had a ps2 style aesthetic and started with god giving you a mission to do something in the desert (he thinks it might be killing demons but he is not sure). He says the game was a fps but had more of a focus on walking.
