In a significant step toward accelerating India’s solar revolution, Orb Energy, one of the country’s leading solar solutions providers, has signed an agreement with the State Bank of India (SBI) under the Surya Shakti Solar Finance Scheme. This move is poised to benefit thousands of residential, commercial, and industrial customers by making solar power more accessible and affordable.

Empowering India with Solar Finance

Under the agreement, SBI will offer tailored solar loans to Orb Energy’s customers:

Residential customers can avail up to ₹10 lakhs in financing.

Commercial and industrial customers can secure loans up to ₹10 crores, with just a 20% down payment and long tenure options.

With payback periods of just 3–5 years and solar panels lasting over 25 years, these loans help customers enjoy free electricity for decades after their initial investment.

> "Long-term, low-cost finance is key to helping customers manage the up-front costs of solar. This partnership with SBI is a crucial milestone," said a spokesperson for Orb Energy.

Launch of a 35 MW Solar Park in Karnataka for SMEs

Adding to the momentum, Orb Energy recently inaugurated a 35 MW (DC) ground-mounted solar park in Arsikere, Karnataka, specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Spanning 110 acres, the park delivers 5.24 crore units of green power and reduces 45,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. It offers SMEs with high energy needs and limited roof space the opportunity to:

Own a plot in the park.

Install a dedicated solar sub-array.

Access collateral-free, in-house financing with a five-year tenure.

With 27 MW already commissioned, Orb Energy aims to expand to 400 MW across India by 2030, with a total projected investment of ₹2,000 crores.

Benefits to SMEs and the Environment

Off-site solar customers can enjoy electricity at rates of ₹3.5–₹4.0 per unit, significantly lower than the average grid rate of ₹8–₹9 per unit. This not only helps reduce operational costs but also enhances SME competitiveness while contributing to a greener planet.

> “We launched a unique solar park model, enabling SMEs to own their sub-arrays. It’s proven a big hit,” said Damian Miller, Co-founder & CEO of Orb Energy.
