2nd Kitten idea?

New to Cats/Just Adopted

I adopted an 8 week old kitten, my first ever cat, in early March after 6 months of gruelling wait! He’s amazing, I couldn’t ask for a better kitten. I had to ask permission from my mother to adopt, to which she wasn’t sold on the idea, but this cat is so cute it’s swaying her opinion on cats!

We have a 3 year old dog who I slowly introduce the 2 over about 3 weeks, since they’ve been playing and roaming the house freely together without problems. Even bonding!

My point here is this; I feel kinda guilty that my new kitten hasn’t fully scratched that itch I was hoping? I couldn’t put into words how wonderful having him is, it’s surreal to me. But I still see other cats on social media and feel sad for them, wanting to care for them. Something those 6 months before I also did, but I assumed actually owning a cat myself would stop this.

So thoughts of getting another kitten are creeping into my mind recently. But I’d love to know what it would be like introducing another cat into the house? I’d obviously need permission again, plus looking over finances I should be ok. I’m concerned it might stress my dog out having 2 cats? Or what if my current kitten doesn’t like the new one?

I’m thinking of looking for one younger than 8 weeks, so I don’t miss the blue eye phase. And probably a female this time, as I’ve always owned male pets before. So has anyone had experience of doing this? Introducing a 2nd cat to a 1st and a dog in the house? Any advice would be appreciated:)
