gentle reminder that eg7 announced the imminent dissolution of toadman several months ago, and that all remaining workers are just there to fulfill their contract which expires later this year. sorry, but they are not going to reverse this change
press release from january of this year
in particular i want to remind you all of this section
Ongoing Work-for-Hire (WFH) contracts with Daybreak and Cold Iron will be protected in this process, this means that a complete closure of activities will be optimized to fulfill the contract’s deliverables. This will have an immediate effect on all employees not engaged in these contracts.
(...)
The wind down of Toadman is expected to result in a non-recurring restructuring reserve of approximately SEK 16.5 million. The effect of this decision will be fully seen in the second half of 2025, where an annual operating cost reduction of approximately SEK 46.5 million will be recognized. This decision will affect 69 employees and subcontractors of which approximately 42 will stay engaged in the protected projects mentioned above over a transition period to fulfil the contract’s deliverables.
we are currently in this aforementioned "transition period." the shuttering of emerald was more than likely a part of this annual operating cost reduction. they literally told us what was going to happen, and now it's happening. even if they somehow fixed connery despite the previous (and much larger) team at Daybreak not being able to for the past several years, or managed to secure the funds to get Emerald up and running again (they wont), toadman will cease to exist before the year's end, and again this isn't speculation, its literally what the press release says
in my opinion these guys have clearly "quiet quit," obviously they knew what would happen when they dumped all of Emerald into connery (to assume otherwise would be to assume they somehow forgot why the latter was peaking at 30 players). im not usually much of a fuddie but, if their response to completely decimating the remainder of their north and south american playerbase and knowingly losing all of those memberships is "maybe we'll touch base on the topic next month" its because they don't have a plan, nor any intention of drafting one. its over, the game's finished, except MAYBE for miller (and thats a huge maybe).
don't get your hopes up for the dev response mithril mentioned was coming, or for the "active discussions" they're supposedly in. its not up to them. they're all going to be out of a job in a few months, this is completely out of their control, there is nothing anyone can do.
sorry fellas but i am fairly certain that this is it for planetside 2, theres really no room for interpretation in that press release. its over
