Brakes are making rubbing/grinding, but rotors and pads look good...
Hi there! I am hopeful that I am reading and following the rules correctly, as I have another thread on a different subject (https://old.reddit.com/r/MechanicAdvice/comments/1jzypj2/oil_pan_question_casting_marks_or_cracks/) and this is the same car, but unrelated!
I recently had my brakes changed. It included everything: pads, clips, rotors, and also the master brake cylinder.
Ever since, but not 100% of the time, there has been an extremely loud and obvious rubbing sound when coming to a stop. It sounds awful.
However! I have had it looked at multiple times, all the wheels taken apart, the rotors scrutinized, and there's no sign of warping, no improper wear, and the car definitely stops when it's supposed to, even though it does not feel or sound good.
And by "feel," I can feel the rubbing that I hear, but there is no shaking or wobbling or whining. No shrieking like new pads being worn in.
It did nothing like this at all with the previous brakes. However, it did have an issue with briefly losing friction at predictable intervals relative to wheel rotation while braking -- this is why the master cylinder was changed too. That issue is completely gone.
Any thoughts? Thank you!
