cats will stop at nothing to get food/trash
So as the title reads I have two adult male cats ages 3 and 6, they are both former strays (both been indoors/cared for for over a year) and because of this (I’m assuming) they have extreme food motivation. They break into cabinets with treats in them, they knock over trash cans to eat the garbage, they lick dirty dishes in the sink, rip open food in the pantry, etc. It’s become so unmanageable that they are kept solely to my baby proofed bedroom because I’ve gotten sick of them destroying mine and my roommates home. Their vet says they are both healthy weights (they each get 2 cans of wet food per day, no dry food and no free feeding) so I don’t believe they’re doing it out of hunger. I understand why the instinct is there, because thats how they survived on the street for years, but how do I put a stop to it now that they’re housed and fed?
