did anyone else know you could 'pet' the unadopted medallion pets?

I figured this out by accident today as I was checking on my pet medallion progress on the mobile app. I accidentally swiped my finger along the screen where the large image of the pet was, and saw that it moved in a strange way. I tried tapping the image and that only rotated the pet, so I tried to replicate my finger movements from before, and lo and behold the pet jumped. I tried this again and it did a different action. I tried this on various other pets and they all give some kind of a reaction when you "pet" them like you would a normal pet. When I went to try this on the web app, the corresponding computer gesture has to be done for this to happen, so just clicking on the pet would rotate it, and clicking and dragging your mouse on the pet would cause it to perform a cute action. Did anyone else not know about this from since the beginning of the medallion era??
