Mostly because we're already a bit familiar with PhoneGap and we have our own build system that fits with it pretty well. Also I think PhoneGap has the better ability to add our own native plugins. Cheers!

Why PhoneGap? Titanium is pure javascript and seems (to me) to be faster/more responsive than PhoneGap.
