I am having trouble exporting videos

after clicking export it immediately shows 20% complete. It then starts to VERY slowly progress (about 35 minutes to get to 25 to 28) and then just stalls out completely. I mean, it is still trying to process, but the time remaining continues to grow. The last attempt got to 36% after 4+ hours and the time remaining was showing 15 hours and growing. Nothing has changed in my settings, the computer is used strictly for video editing, and all drivers for the graphics card and everything else is up to date.
