Hi,

After listening to ASMR scripts for a while, I wanted to give back to the community. This is the first time I post on Reddit; I hope the formatting is correct.

English is not my native language, so feel free to correct any mistake I may have made.

This script addresses a sensitive subject that is close to my heart, and I hope I have handled it with the care it deserves. Constructive criticism is very welcome. :)

Summary:
On a quiet bridge before dawn, a stranger appears. Charming, but strangely
perceptive, their words are both playful and acute, teasing yet sincere. As the
conversation goes on, something feels off, and it becomes clear they aren’t
just any stranger.

A Heartfelt Conversation on the Edge

*Soft wind SFX during the whole scene*

*Footsteps getting closer*

Enjoying the view?

Oh my, I’m so sorry. I didn't want to startle
you. It's a dangerous place to be jumpy. Wouldn't want to make you fall. This
is… Wow, I haven’t realized we were so far above the ground. I’ll get dizzy if
I keep looking down. Do you mind if I just catch my breath for a minute? I
really don’t want to bother you. I suppose you weren't expecting someone
stopping by yourself to have a little chat.

Would you rather be by yourself? I think I get
why you stopped here; we have a pretty good view over the city. It must be
quite relaxing to watch all those lights gradually turn on one by one, as
people get ready to start their day. Is that why you were here all by yourself?
To try to find peace watching the city still half-asleep?

Hmmm, you don't seem really convincing. Is
something troubling you perhaps? Would sharing what's on your mind lighten the
burden on your shoulders?

Not the talkative one, I see. Well, if you
don't mind, I think we could both use a little conversation right now. And
don't worry, I'm well capable to do the talking for the both of us. Just tell
me if I'm bothering you, and I'll leave you to your contemplation.

Well, I'll take your silence as an invitation
then. I don't want to be rude, but you look pretty worn down. Haven’t found
much sleep tonight? Maybe listening to the rambles of a stranger might help to
appease your mind. You know, this isn't the first time I come to this place.

Oh, is that so surprising that you’re not the
only one who has come to seek comfort on this bridge? This is rather a good
place to let your mind wander. From here, you can see the whole city, ever
growing. Things change so quickly now. Lots of new building, and a lot less of
darkness, like even when people are asleep, the city itself keep breathing,
like a placid beast who can rest but never really sleep.

Oh, really, I look too young to have known how
it was before the buildings started growing on this land? Come on, it wasn’t
that long ago. Well, I’ll take it as a compliment. You're not the first one to
think I don't look my age.

How old am I then? Oh, come on, you can't ask
that sort of things so bluntly. And you already know that I'm older than you
thought, that's enough sharing about me for now. Maybe if you start to become a
little more chatty, I'll let slip some interesting things about myself, who
knows?

Oh, come on, I'm just teasing you, don't go
back to brooding. I would much prefer to see you smile.

Am I hitting on you? Oh my, you really are the
daring type, aren't you? And would you like that?

Ok, ok, I'll stop with the teasing. But in my
defense, you're as cute as a puppy when you’re losing your stoic composure. You
really should try to be more honest with yourself. I bet you're even glad that
I decided to approach you. Or would you dare to pretend that you had a better
time moping all by yourself?

See? I like to see that shy smile. So, you can
say whatever you want, protest as much as you'd like, but I'm staying. And to
be honest, I'm quite enjoying myself, so I really have no reason to leave.
You're stuck with me, unless you decide to leave. But then, I'll think I'll
enjoy the view a lot less without your company. Would you be so heartless to
let me all alone on this quiet night?

You're right, I'm quite the teasing type. I
could promise you I'll stop, but we both know that would be a lie. You know
what? Give me your hand. Come on, don't be shy, I won't do anything funny. I
just want to show you something nice.

There, and now that I grabbed your hand, I
won't let you go. Nuh-uh, you're stuck with me. There's truly nothing you can
do about it. Pretty clever, right?

How do I know you just won't let go of me?
Well, because I don't think that's what you want, silly puppy. Tell me, how
does that feel? The warm sensation of another person holding your hand? Isn’t
that comforting? If you let go of me, won’t you feel something is missing?
Because that's what I feel right now. Even if we barely know each other, you
have already taken a tiny little space in my life. So, I won't let go of you
for now, and I hope that you can understand what I mean. You'd tell me if I was
just annoying you with all my rambling, right?

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying my company. I
wasn't sure I'll be able to do something for you tonight.

Oopsie. What am I talking about? Told you, keep
me talking long enough, and I’ll let something slip.

Hey, don't you dare try to let go of my hand.
You're stuck with me for now, I already told you. But yeah, I must confess I
may have had an ulterior motive joining you on this bridge tonight. You weren't
there just to enjoy the view, were you? You had another idea for standing this
close to the edge, am I wrong?

Oh, I know that look, you don't have to try to
deny it. And I won't lecture you about the way you feel. Believe me, I know too
well what you're experiencing right now.

Do I know you? Well, I guess that I know you a
little by now. And I know that's not what you were asking. Don't worry, I'm not
a stalker, if that was your fearing. We could say that destiny put you on my
schedule. Isn’t that a nice way to think about it? And that’s kinda my job, to
be honest.

A social worker? That's the first time anyone
has called me that. I think I like the sound of it, though.

Who am I then? Well, didn't I told you that if
you keep me talking, my tongue would slip? So, if you really want to know, I
guess you don’t have much of a choice.

Hey, there’s no need to be so tense. Did I
scare you that much? You're still holding my hand, so that means you still
trust me a little. Or at least that you want to trust me. I can work with that.
So yeah, I’m going to be a little more honest with you. As you can guess, I get
why you were here all alone. When I approached you, you had that look in your
eyes. You weren't observing the city. You were a lot more concerned about
what's far below, weren’t you? Maybe you were even wondering if the fall would
be long enough for you to have regrets before reaching the ground. Am I
mistaken? Oh, I would be glad to be wrong, and if you tell me that you were
just contemplating the stars fading in the sky, I won't pry more. So, will you
tell me I interrupted you while you were simply taking a moon bath?

Oh, I’m sorry, I guess I was a little too
abrupt. I really didn’t mean to back you into a corner. I’m just a bit worried
for you.

That’s right, take your time. Take as much time
as you need. I know how hard it can be to admit to yourself how much you need a
helping hand.

You didn’t even realize that someone could care
about you? You poor thing. I wish I could have meet you sooner. I truly wish…
But I’m here now, so let’s make the best of the time we have together. Doesn’t
that sound nice?

Hey, it's ok to cry, don't be ashamed. A good
cry can help a lot.

That's right, just let it all out.

Shhh, it's ok. You don't have to apologize. I
know it's difficult, but you'll feel better if you stop trying to keep all
you're suffering to yourself. I know you're afraid to be a burden to others,
but right now, I'm here for you. I won't leave you. I won't let go of you. Let
me just... This isn’t… Really convenient… Ok, I know what I just told
you, but I need to let go of your hand– Only for a moment, I promise. Let me
just grab... I know I have some... God, can these pockets be a mess. Ah, there.
I think you could use some tissues right now. I’m sure we both would prefer not to
have to deal with soggy sleeves when I'll grab back your hand. Or perhaps you
secretly planned that you’ll stick better to me like that?

Oh, is that a smile I see behind all those
tears? Come on, don't be shy, I saw that.

See, what did I tell you? Don't you feel better
now?

A little? Well, that's still something to be
proud of. And see? Now you're making me smile too.

What? Can you repeat that a little louder? Come
on, it's too late to be shy.

Ooooh, now you're the one who want to grab my
hand? Hmmm, what should I do about that... Awww, you know I'm only teasing you.
Come over here, little puppy.

Oh, is that too much? I figured you could use a
hug, but if you don't want to– Hey, hey, it's ok.

Oh my, you're even more touched starved than I
thought. There’s no need to be ashamed, I know that it's something humans
really need, even if a lot of you don't even realize it.

Shhhh, don't pay too much attention to what I'm
saying. Tell me, don't you feel better with just a hug? Isn’t that nice to have
your hair gently brushed? Life doesn't seem so bad when you're not alone, isn't
that right?

What was that?

Will you see me again after tonight? Me? Oh no.
No. I don't think it would be a good idea. I'm really not the type to tag
along. I usually met people only once, so it wouldn't be fair to give you
special treatment, don't you think?

Oh, you're stepping back. You seem a little
tense now. Have I done something to make you uncomfortable?

I'm... odd? Well, it's just that... Hmmm...
Awwww, don't give me that look please, you're making me sad. You know, that's
kinda your fault. You’re really easy to talk to, I should have known I'll spit
it out if you kept me blabbing. But I guess you earned it. Ok, from now on, I'll
be 100% honest with you.

Yeah, pinky promise. And I’m a pretty bad liar
anyway. So, what's on your mind? Any wild theory?

[Burst out laughing]
An angel? Awww, come on, isn't that a bit cheesy?

Ok, sorry, sorry, I'm really not trying
to make fun of you. I just didn't expect such a bold guess. But no, I'm not an
angel, nothing that much sentimental. You know what? I'll give you two more
tries. Isn’t it how it goes in the stories? And if you can't guess who I truly
am, well… I suppose I’ll have to keep it to myself then.

Hey, I just want to make things more
interesting. Wouldn't it be boring if you could just throw whatever crosses
your mind and just see what sticks to the wall?

So, do we have a deal?

Ooooh, you look really determined now. I like
that look in your eyes. You have no intention to give up, haven't you? Good,
good. So, do you already have a second guess?

[Almost choking]
The Devil?! Like, Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness? Not even a simple imp, but
the almighty ruler of the underworld itself? Awwww, you'll make me blush. Am I
that intimidating? Did I leave you with the impression that I'm here to make a
contract in exchange for your immortal soul? It's true I may have taken an
interest in you, but I'm not the type to deal in Faustian bargains. I may have
a soft spot for games, but it’s never to gain something in return. More for the
thrill of the gamble. So, you're on your last try. Gotta be careful now, I
think I would be pretty disappointed if I had to leave you like that. Would be
a little anticlimactic, don’t you think?

A hint? Did you really wait until your last
chance to ask me for a hint? You really are something. But it wasn't in the
rules of our little game. So no, I won't give you a hint. Besides... I'm pretty
sure I already gave you enough information about myself tonight. It's less of a
guessing game, and more of a test to see if you really paid attention to what I
could have left slip. So, were you listening to what I said? Or were you just
enjoying the company?

Hmmm, yeah, I seem to know you a little bit too
much for a stranger, but you're pretty sure you never saw me in your life. Ok,
go on...

I'm older than you thought... Oh, did I tell
you that? [Chuckle] Not that flattering for me, but it's true: I'm
way older than you could imagine. Anything else? Awww, you're so close to
figure it out. You just need to find that one tiny little piece you're missing.
Come on, what were you doing all alone on that bridge, in the middle of the night?

You look surprised. Did I make you forget?
Guess I did a pretty good job then. But yeah, I knew I'll find you there. So,
did you figure it out now?

Clock is ticking. Oh my, your eyes are wide
open. I know that look. You finally got it, right? What was it? What was the
missing piece?

I told you destiny put you on my schedule.
[Laugh] I had to be a little bit poetic there, but that's right. You were on my
schedule. In a way. But you have yet to told me. So, who do you
think I am?

[Chuckle]
The Grim Reaper? Hmmm... That would really be something, isn’t it? And the
thing is… Yeah. You're correct. You've unmasked me, congratulations. [Whispering] That’s the part where I would have thrown confetti in the air if I
had some.[/Whispering]

Well, you don’t really seem in the mood
for party poppers anyway. But yeah, you got me. And just so you know, I would
much prefer if you just called me Death. The Grim Reaper sounds a little too
formal to my taste. Like, the whole skeleton thing in a cloak sewn in the
darkest sky of the darkest night? It's been centuries since I've worn that old
thing. No, Death does really sound better to me. And all my friends call me
that.

Oh, come on. You can't just ask people why they
aren't a big scary skeleton, can you? What do you think would have happened if
that was how I silently approached you, so close to the edge of that bridge?

See the problem? No, it's much easier that way.
Besides, I didn't choose my current look. I just appeared in the form you would
be most comfortable with. So, what does that says about you, little puppy? Do I
suit your taste, looking like this?

Hey, I'm pretty sure I didn't promise to stop
teasing you. As if you don’t like it.[Chuckle] My, my, my, this is really not how I thought
things would go, but what can I say? I must confess, I've grown rather fond of
you while we've been chatting. Usually, the conversation goes the other way
around. I tell people why I'm here, and then they try to talk their way out of
it, not realizing that it's already too late. You can't imagine how long some
people can haggle before they finally accept their fate. [Sigh]

Hey, don't look so worried now. It's true I
came for you because you were on my schedule, but the whole thing isn't that
rigid. Firstly, I don't kill people. Nuh-uh. That’s not what my job is about.
I'm only here to scythe the thread of your life when the light leaves your
eyes. Hmmm, alright, that definitely sounded way less ominous in my head,
that’s on me. Anyway, the important part is that I won't hurt you. I never had
any intention of hurting you.

Am I here to taunt you then? To amuse myself by
contemplating the last moments of your wasted life? Puppy, you're making me sad
again. You’re still so harsh on yourself. Did I make such a bad impression on
you? Am I that bad at understanding human emotions?

I'm sorry, I know it must be a lot to process.
You weren't expecting to chat with a personified allegory tonight, I'm sure of
it. But yeah, without being too technical, being on my schedule doesn't mean
that it's automatically over for you. There are a lot of things that can affect
the destiny of someone, and sometimes, just
sometimes, that someone has the final
word on the way their life, or death, will play. And you're in that case. How
much do you think you were ready to jump off that bridge?

You're not sure?

You think there was a moment that you were
certain you were going to take that step? Only a moment?

See, there was a lot of hesitation for you back
then. Even I wasn't absolutely sure of what was going to happen. So that's why
I decided to join you for a little chat instead of just waiting to see if I'll
have to cut your thread or not. And by the way, how do you feel right now?
Still in the mood for that big jump?

Well, to be honest it was kinda obvious, but I
thought it was important to let you say it yourself.

You don’t want to die anymore, but you're still
not sure how you can keep living. That may be a problem, true. But that's a
problem for later. You don't want to die anymore, that’s the part I really
want you to focus on for now. Because it’s a reeeally big step in the good
direction.

What? You didn't do anything, I'm the one who
saved you? Come on, you should really learn to give yourself some credit. As
you can imagine, I meet a lot of people on the verge of ending it all. The sad
part is that I can rarely help them change their mind. When you're at that
point in your life, finding a glimmer of hope can simply be too much. Oh, I
don't blame them. I wish I could sway more people, but sadly, it's just how things
are. And I’m really not here to judge people and tell them what’s best for
them. I can only try to give them a little nudge in the direction that offers
the more possibilities. But enough talking about my job, or I gonna spoil
the mood. Let's focus on the present, if you'd be so kind.

You're afraid? I already told you, I won't hurt
you in any way.

Oh, you're afraid I only offered you a moment
of respite? I see… Once again, you should have a little more faith in yourself,
my little puppy. You literally beat Death tonight. I'm not the competitive
type, but they usually write stories about people who managed such a feat.

Nuh-uh. I never lie. I may occasionally deceit
by playing with words, but I never ever tell something untrue. I truly enjoyed
our little chat, and it's willingly that I hugged you. A hug you yourself
requested; I might add. [Chuckle]

You're really as cute as a puppy when you're
blushing. See? How much you can smile? You can still feel so much more than
just sadness. This is all on you, I only provided some company. I really made
the good choice, coming talking to you. I knew our final meeting could be
postponed. I don't want to ramble, but you really should feel proud of
yourself. You're one of the rare one I'll meet more than once.

When? Don’t you think I would be in big trouble
if I told you that? Haven't you heard of professional secrecy? Besides, even if
I could "legally" tell you, the truth is that I haven't the slightest
idea. Our meeting for today is now officially canceled, and I have no way to
tell when we’re supposed to meet again. Which is a good sign, just to be clear.
It means that it's too far away for it to be set in stone. Oh my. The sun is
already rising. You really made me lose track of time. Which mean I should
probably go soon.

Awww, don't give me that look. I’m glad you
find it comforting sharing that moment with me, but did you forget who I am?
You really don't want me staying around for too long. Trust me, it never ends
well…

No, it's ok, I know you didn't mean to pain me.
It's just that... Just remember that your life is precious, ok? And I hope I
made you feel how much someone could care for you. There are so many beautiful
things you have yet to see, to feel... So much to come for you. You just need
to believe in yourself like you made me believe in you. And when we finally
meet again, you’ll tell me all about it. If you want of course, I’ll never
force you to do anything that you don’t want to. Do we have a deal?

I’m so glad. And for now, if you don’t mind, I
would really like to just enjoy in silence that lovely sunrise in your company.
The first one of many more to come.

*The soft wind SFX last a little longer after their last words*
