What is your favorite pop conspiracy that you actually believe in?
We know there's a ton of conspiracy theories in pop, from satanic rituals to botched rollouts but what are the ones you guys ACTUALLY believe are true or might be true?
For example, I have no evidence for this, I just made it up in my head and decided to believe in it. But I believe a lot of those articles about someone's tour or show not selling out could be pushed pieces with an aim to get fans riled up defending their girl but also so they check tickets in their area and maybe buy them and suddenly you could have a sold out show.
Like I said, I have no evidence for this besides feeling like you don't become a millionaire, let alone a billionaire, without knowing how to work the industry machine and noticing patterns:
*a lot of these shows are actually like 90% sold out so you put a percentage that isn't actually embarrassing (and it's tickets that sold for hundres or thousands already) so a fan goes on twitter to argue with haters and get traction and get them even more invested *people under these articles mention checking in their areas and either buying or noting that the prices are still high so only the lowest range of tickets makes it to the article - which drives clicks and is an incentive to check prices *this is very reddit specific but any discussion of greedy concert ticketing practices then gets derailed by people who want their pop girl to dunk on haters when she obviously doesn't care because she made bank on a 90% sold out tour (bonus points if she used dynamic pricing)
And I will go to my grave believing this without zero base!
So what are yours?
