My Next Chapter - Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee,

This has been the most difficult decision of my life. Not because I’m afraid to move forward—but because of how deeply this city has become a part of me.

Before Milwaukee, there was Sepolia. Cracked sidewalks, crowded apartments, shared shoes with my brothers. We didn’t have much, but we had each other. My father, Charles, taught us to work without complaining, to dream without limits, and to love without conditions. Every hustle I’ve made on the court has been for him. Every drop of sweat, for my family.

When we came to America, we didn’t know what to expect. But Milwaukee welcomed me like a son. You saw a skinny kid and believed he could be great. You gave me the space to grow—not just as a player, but as a man, a leader, a father. We climbed together. We struggled together. We won together. And we made history together.

That championship—our championship—will always be sacred to me. We built it the hard way. No shortcuts. No superteams. Just grit, loyalty, and belief. That banner will hang forever.

But now, I’m being honest with myself. I still burn to compete. To fight for titles every year. That fire hasn’t faded—it’s only grown stronger. And right now, I need to be in a place where that vision lines up with the team around me. The Bucks gave me everything. But I know in my heart this is the moment to turn the page.

To my brothers—Thanasis, Kostas, Alex—we’re just getting started. To my mother, who held us together through everything, this journey is still yours too. To my father, I hope I’ve made you proud.

Thank you, Milwaukee. I love you. I always will.

But it’s time to write the next chapter.
