Open letter to Jennifer Lash

Hello Jennifer,

I’m so disappointed in the results of our riding.

While I’m thrilled at the overall result, Vancouver Island has now become a conservative hotbed thanks to vote splitting. We are now sending some deplorable candidates to Ottawa that the majority of our population did not vote for and did not want.

For the riding of North-Island Powell River I firmly place the blame on you and the liberal party for running a campaign in an unwinnable riding. Your campaign dishonestly suggested that the liberals were the strategic vote when that was patently untrue. I’m a supporter of Mark Carney but the NDP (whom I voted for) plays a valuable part in ensuring the progressive values of Canadians are heard and represented in parliament.

I registered as a Liberal to ensure Mark Carney would be the leader of the Liberal party as the best bulwark against the Conservative Party. But in my heart, I am a progressive left wing voter who aligns closer to NDP values on most issues.

In the end, your campaign did nothing but cause a disastrous vote split that cost an incredible NDP candidate a seat in parliament.

I hope you consider that there are MANY like me who are so disappointed in the result and disappointed in you for not recognizing the HONOURABLE thing to do in our FPTP system was to step aside to ensure a progressive candidate succeeded and not a bigoted, residential school and genocide denying, Putin loving cretin who got voted in instead.

The NDP took one on the chin federally for the liberals and you didn’t even have the common courtesy to return the favour.

Shame on you!
