Had my dbl mastectomy 2.5 weeks ago..now infection

I had direct-to-implant surgery 2.5 weeks ago with nipple grafting. A few days ago, I developed flu-like symptoms, and after my drains were removed, I got worse. I’ve had a 101–103° fever, redness, and swelling—my doctor suspects fluid buildup and a bacterial infection. I’m having surgery tomorrow to remove and replace the implants.

I was never told to strip my drains…just to empty them. Could not stripping have caused a blockage and led to this?
