Orthotic treatment journey [update]
Hi everyone, I started my orthotic treatment journey December 19th 2024 so I’ve been in treatment for around 4 1/2 months to 5 months. I’ve been having muscular TMJD for 15 years of my life and I’m now 33 years old.
I would like to preface, I had ZERO bite on my right side jaw since 2016, so for years my body been developing under these conditions.
Before I started treatment:
- Excruciating back pain
- Knee pain
- Pronated foot
- Uneven hips (hip hike)
- Slanted neck
- Uneven shoulders
- Tinnitus
- Headaches and migraines were severe and unbearable (constant before I underwent treatment)
- Jaw could barely open.
- Jaw popping
- My overall body was severely upset muscular wise and under inflammation. My nervous system was so deregulated.
Current experience:
- My body alignment is still imbalance from head to toe.
- My jaw has relaxed a lot but still not Fully. (I’m still undergoing adjustments to my orthotic since my jaw hasn’t found its “sweet spot”)
- My headaches have reduced greatly.
- My tinnitus has reduced a lot if not I don’t notice it anymore.
- Jaw popping has reduced greatly if not I never notice it anymore.
My question to those who went through this is how long did it take for you to experience postural changes in your body?
I’m worried that my body will be stuck on this alignment and unfortunately training in the gym never feels like it helps. I’ve always been athletic and never felt so disconnected from my muscles and how I use them. It’s like my body is so confused. Nonetheless I’m happy with my orthotic treatment and I will continue to resolve my bite before anything else.
