Laid off from 5 yr FT last month. Got first freelance gig today by cold email

In creative content marketing. Making 75K in LCOL city. Applied to 100-110 jobs. 8 call backs but most didn’t work out. Some still in process. Never thought about freelancing during the FT job due to visa restrictions but now my visa status has changed (literally got the PR on the day I got laid off lol) which means I can now freelance.

Causally emailed a local non profit expressing interest in volunteering and after speaking on a call, they’re gonna hire me for a part time gig (25hrs/wk) to help with marketing. Pay around $18 WFH

Not much money but it’s fine for now since I’m in a DINK(now SINK) income but it’s the first time I’ve ever made money as a freelancer.

Feels incredible tbh.
